African horizon from the Jane Goodall Institute

4S Bay Partners believes its stewardship commitments require attention to assets AND impact. 4S Bay views capital as supporting opportunity, strengthening communities, and contributing to a more equitable and sustainable future.  These principles are reflected in the philanthropic partnership between the 4S Bay Managing Partner, Jessica Sarowitz, and the Jane Goodall Institute. JGI is an organization that advances community‑led conservation based on the belief in the interconnected wellbeing of people, wildlife and the natural world.

Jessica Sarowitz and Jane Goodall

Founded by the late Dr. Jane Goodall, JGI is a global conservation organization dedicated to protecting chimpanzees and other wildlife while improving the lives of people who share their habitats. JGI’s approach integrates scientific research, community-based conservation, and youth engagement, recognizing that sustainable environmental outcomes depend on the strength and participation of local communities.

Jessica’s recent support focuses on building conservation capacity in Tanzania to protect chimpanzees and baboons while empowering Tanzanian youth as stewards of their environment through the Roots and Shoots program. Through a coordinated set of projects managed by the Jane Goodall Institute, this work strengthens local conservation infrastructure, supports responsible wildlife protection practices, and invests in the next generation of environmental leaders. This work is carried out in close partnership with local communities, prioritizing approaches designed to create lasting benefits for both people and wildlife.

This investment reflects a broader philosophy shared across our work: that thoughtful, well-structured support can help create durable solutions to complex challenges. We are drawn to initiatives that respect local expertise, prioritize accountability, and seek outcomes that endure beyond the life of any single contribution. Jessica’s partnership with JGI exemplifies this approach, aligning environmental protection with community empowerment and educational opportunity.

This moment also provides an opportunity to honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall, who passed away in October 2025. Over the course of her life, Dr. Goodall reshaped scientific understanding of chimpanzees and brought global attention to the interconnectedness of people, animals, and the natural world. Central to her legacy was a conviction that individual responsibility matters. As she stated, “Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.”

We are proud to recognize Jessica Sarowitz’s deep respect and admiration for Dr. Goodall and her continued partnership with the JGI supporting work that protects wildlife, strengthens communities, and invests in future generations. In doing so, we honor Dr. Goodall’s legacy and reaffirm a shared commitment to acting with intention, responsibility, and respect for the world we collectively steward.
