On Saturday, February 22nd, the Stocker Street Creative team invited the community to an Outreach Summit held at the Consolidated Board of Realtist building — a non-profit organization that focuses on fair treatment of African American brokers and agents in the real estate industry. The focus of the Outreach Summit, other than to showcase the new Stocker Street Creative campus renderings, was to highlight local talent. The event started with live music provided by Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (ICYOLA) and appetizers from local restaurant, Post & Beam.

The community of Baldwin Hills, CA gathers to hear the updates on Stocker Street Creative.

Over 220 people from the community came to learn about the campus, leasing opportunities, and jobs in construction and campus operations. The newly built 5-acre campus will be in Baldwin Hills — a neighborhood that is often overlooked because of the diversity of individuals that live there. The community was asked what the wants and needs were, and the resounding answer was a creative space within the community. So, along with a creative community room, Stocker Street Creative will also bring film studios, class A office space and over 270 parking spaces. The crowd was assured that the campus is 100% funded, and it WILL be constructed, unlike other abandoned projects in the neighborhood.

Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager spoke about how excited she is to have this project in the community. Following her speech, was a fly-through 3-minute video of the campus showing the history of prominent actors and actresses that grew up in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood. The video then transitioned to give a detailed bird’s eye view of the campus. Each member of the Stocker Street Creative Team had the chance to speak on the activities at the campus, questions about traffic concerns, and logistics of construction such as building timeline, noise, and dust management.

After the presentation, the media and Stocker Street Creative team moved to a private room for an in-depth discussion about the Project. At the same time, the attendees participated in breakout sessions to learn more about job opportunities. These sessions included Construction Subcontractors and workforce, Construction Suppliers, Operational Workforce, Office and Restaurant leasing, and Operational Suppliers.
